Trinidad Chambliss to Play for Ole Miss in 2026 After NCAA Appeal Denied in Eligibility Case

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is able play for the Rebels in 2026 after the Mississippi Supreme Court denied the NCAA's appeal in his eligibility case, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

On Feb. 12, a state court judge in Mississippi granted Chambliss a preliminary injunction that gave him a sixth year of eligibility.

The NCAA later appealed the preliminary injunction and submitted a filing asking the Mississippi Supreme Court to "overrule" the injunction.

Chambliss initially filed a petition to receive another year of eligibility in Nov. 2025, as he was seeking a medical redshirt year from his sophomore season at Ferris State in 2022.

He supplied 91 pages of medical documents showing he was battling a respiratory issue at the time, per Thamel.

The NCAA later announced that Chambliss' waiver request was denied, leading to the preliminary injunction.

The 23-year-old staying in college would provide a major boost to the Rebels after he helped lead them to a 13-2 record as well as a College Football Playoff semifinal appearance last season.

Chambliss finished No. 8 in 2025 Heisman Trophy voting, completing 66.1 percent of his throws for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns compared to a mere three interceptions.

He also rushed for 527 yards and eight scores.
