'Remarkable' Joel Embiid Praised After Injury Return by NBA Scout amid 76ers' Playoff Race
With as much time as he's missed over the years since his MVP season, it's easy to forget just how dominant Joel Embiid can be.
The Philadelphia 76ers star returned from a nearly month-long absence on Wednesday and reminded fans what he can do. He posted 35 points, seven assists and six boards in a 157-137 rout of the Chicago Bulls.
The strong performance earned him high praise from a Western Conference scout.
"It's remarkable that Embiid can come back and, for the most part, look like he hasn't missed any time," the West scout told ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps. "It shows just how talented he is."
Embiid has played 39 games or fewer in each of the last two seasons and has appeared in just 34 games this year, with nine games to go in the regular season. No matter how much time he misses, the veteran center can almost always return to his typical self.
The next task for Embiid will be playing at a high level and avoiding injuries. If he can do that, Philadelphia could end up making a deep run in the postseason, something that has eluded Embiid his entire career.
