Kelvin Sampson Addresses Houston Future After Loss to Illinois in March Madness amid Retirement Buzz
With Houston's season now in the books, one of the biggest questions is whether Kelvin Sampson will return as head coach.
Sampson addressed his future after the No. 2 Cougars' loss to No. 3 Illinois in the Sweet 16, saying he hasn't yet made a decision.
"We all have our time, but I think coaches have to understand when their time is," Sampson told reporters. "I mean, we all know this is a young man's game. I still like it, but we're all going to step away eventually.

"I haven't really thought about that to the point where I can share anything, but I'm not going to get in anybody's way though. If I'm in somebody's way or if I'm overstaying my welcome, I'd be the first one to leave."
The 70-year-old Sampson just concluded his 12th season with Houston and has been coaching for nearly four decades. He's found plenty of success at the collegiate level, reaching the Final Four three times, and spent time at the NBA level as an assistant from 2008 to 2014.
Sampson, who led the Cougars to the national title game a year ago, is still chasing his first ring. Whether he'll continue his pursuit of a championship is still to be determined.
