Maxx Crosby Failed Ravens Trade Discussed By Raiders GM, 'We Welcome Him Like He Never Left'

Scott PolacekMar 26, 2026

The Las Vegas Raiders traded Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens this offseason until they didn't, and general manager John Spytek is eager to welcome the pass-rusher back to the fold after the move was nullified.

"Things have a way of working out the way they're supposed to," he said during an interview. "We welcome him like he never left—because he really never did."

Baltimore agreed to trade two first-round picks to the Raiders in exchange for the star defensive end but ultimately backed out of the move because of medical concerns following a physical and MRI.

ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported the Raiders and some who are close to Crosby remain "skeptical that his medical state was the sole motive for the trade reversal, given the timing and that Baltimore had a full understanding of the injury before the trade."

Crosby himself said on his podcast, "No one will ever admit what the real truth is."

Baltimore responded to the nullified trade by signing former Cincinnati Bengals edge rusher Trey Hendrickson in free agency.

The question now is what's next, and Crosby took to social media after the trade was no longer happening and said "I'm a Raider. I'm back."

Spytek's comments suggested Las Vegas would be more than happy to have him back after he reached his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl during the 2025 campaign. He could be a veteran leader for a team that may be rebuilding some around presumed No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, which would bolster the defense.

McFadden reported "teams continue to check in on his availability" but also noted Las Vegas' "asking price to trade Crosby's contract remains high. And given what has happened, teams are hesitant to meet it."

The report also made it clear Las Vegas is "keeping an open mind on retaining him," and Spytek said nothing to dispel that notion Thursday.
