Featuring pink jerseys, pink shorts with a blue ombré effect and cherry blossoms down the sides of the jerseys and shorts, the Wizards' Cherry Blossom threads were first introduced during the 2022-23 season.

Regarding the decision to bring back the Cherry Blossom uniforms next season, Wizards Chief Marketing Officer Hunter Lochmann, said, "We are thrilled to work with Nike and the NBA to bring back this popular NBA City Edition uniform for the 2026-27 season. We were excited when we debuted these during the 2022-23 season and know the fans and city will be happy to have them back as one of our uniform sets."

The uniforms are a nod to the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which is held every spring in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the District of Columbia being gifted cherry blossom trees by Japan in 1912.

In addition to the return of a beloved look, the 2026-27 season could also represent a return to prominence for the Wizards.

While Washington has missed the playoffs in five straight seasons and currently has the third-worst record in the NBA this season at 17-55, there is reason for optimism moving forward.

The Wizards swung two significant, in-season trades, acquiring Young from the Atlanta Hawks and Anthony Davis from the Dallas Mavericks.

Young is a four-time All-Star who averages 25.1 points and 9.8 assists per game for his career, while Davis is a 10-time All-Star, five-time All-NBA selection and one-time NBA champion with career averages of 24.0 points and 10.7 rebounds per contest.

The Wizards are also lined up to potentially land a top pick in the supremely talented 2026 NBA draft, headlined by AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, Caleb Wilson and Darius Acuff Jr.

On top of that, the Wizards already have some young players on the rise, such as Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson, Kyshawn George and Bilal Coulibaly, which suggests they could be a problem in the Eastern Conference next season and for years to come.
