Wemby Shrugs at Bam Adebayo's 83 Points in Trending Video When Asked About Inspiration
San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama was asked Tuesday during a postgame press conference if he was aware of Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo's 83-point outing that evening and whether that gave him inspiration to "go for some of the bigger scoring numbers in league history."
Wembanyama shrugged before saying: "Yeah, I saw. We're playing in a league where there's plenty of inspiration to look up to, but yeah, I saw."

Adebayo's 83 points stand as the second-highest single-game mark in NBA history after he dropped that total in a 150-129 home win over the Washington Wizards on Tuesday evening.
That performance, of course, dominated the NBA headlines. However, Wembanyama had a tremendous game himself, posting 39 points and 11 rebounds in a 125-116 home victory over the Boston Celtics.
Wembanyama, understandably, seems more inclined to be an unstoppable force on the court, compete hard and win games. That appears to mean the most, as evidenced by the emotions shown after he helped guide San Antonio from 25 points down to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 116-112 last Friday.
As far as individual scoring marks go, it's not impossible to see Wembanyama post a huge number someday. His career-high is 50 points, set against the Wizards on Nov. 13, 2024 during a 139-130 home win.
In the meantime, Wemby and the second-place Spurs, who have won 16 of 17 games to go to 48-17, look to keep this hot streak rolling when they host the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.
