Austin Reaves Reveals How Lakers Have Improved Accountability amid Winning Streak
Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves discussed the impact that improved accountability has had on the team's current three-game winning streak.
"I think accountability is being held — not more so from coach to player, just person to person," Reaves told Dan Woike of The Athletic. "I'm not saying I'm running around holding people accountable, but if you say something to somebody, it's not, 'Throw your hands up in the air.' It's not like, 'Poor pitiful me.'"
Los Angeles' streak is particularly impressive considering LeBron James has been sidelined for all three games due to an elbow contusion and left foot arthritis.
Still, the Lakers' recent success started with James in the lineup. After all, they've won six of their past seven games and have climbed back up to the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference standings with a 40-25 record.
Los Angeles has defeated multiple formidable opponents, with the team's last two wins coming over the New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves. Both teams have a combined record of 81-50.
Reaves was a key factor in each victory, scoring 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting against the Knicks. He also racked up 31 points, eight assists and seven rebounds against the Timberwolves.
As the Lakers attempt to continue building momentum with the playoffs drawing closer, they'll look to keep holding each other accountable.
