Rare Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Larry Bird Memorabilia Sell for Record Prices at Auction
Items belonging to Chicago Bulls legend and Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen sold for a total of $6.2 million on Tuesday night.
Sotheby's revealed the news in a press release, noting that the auction included memorabilia from Pippen, fellow Bulls legend Michael Jordan and Boston Celtics legend Larry Bird.
A game-worn and autographed Bird jersey from the Dream Team at the 1992 Summer Olympics sold for $896,000 as part of the auction, setting a new record for a piece of Bird memorabilia.

There was also a new record sale price set for a Pippen-related item, as his game-worn and autographed jersey from the 1997 NBA Finals went for $486,400.
Pippen wore that jersey during the famous "Flu Game," which saw Jordan score 38 points in the Bulls' Game 5 win over the Utah Jazz despite battling illness.
Chicago went on to beat Utah in Game 6 as well, clinching the Bulls their second of three consecutive championships.
The second-most-expensive item in the entire lot came from Jordan himself in the form of game-worn sneakers from the 1992 Summer Olympics.
MJ wore the Air Jordan VII sneakers as a member of the Dream Team, autographed them and gave them to Pippen after Team USA beat Croatia in the gold medal game. The shoes sold for $640,000.
Other pieces of memorabilia that were sold as part of the auction included Pippen's jersey worn during the championship-clinching games of the 1996 and 1998 NBA Finals, his jersey won in the 1992 Olympic gold medal game, and the jersey he wore during the 1994 NBA All-Star Game when he was named MVP.
