5-Star SG Caleb Holt Reveals CBB Commitment Between Arizona, Kentucky, Alabama
Arizona has secured a commitment from the consensus top shooting guard in the class of 2026.
Five-star Caleb Holt announced his commitment to the Wildcats Tuesday during an appearance on ESPN's First Take.
Holt chose Arizona over his other finalists of Alabama, Houston, Kentucky and Providence.
The 6'5'' guard out of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is listed as the No. 4 national prospect and No. 4 shooting guard by 247Sports' composite rankings.
247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein described Holt as "physically imposing on the perimeter with a terrific combination of length, strength, athleticism, speed, and a wealth of intangibles."
"He's competitive, plays hard, and imposes his will on both ends of the floor," Finkelstein wrote. "He also has good perimeter size at 6-foot-5-plus with a 6-foot-9 wingspan."
Holt, an Alabama native and McDonald's All-American, has represented USA Basketball at youth tournaments since 2023.
He most recently averaged 10 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.7 steals and 2.1 assists in 16.5 minutes per game as the USA won gold at the 2025 FIBA U19 Men's World Cup in Switzerland last summer.
Holt developed a connection with the Wildcats through that U19 team, which was coached by Arizona head coach Tommy Lloyd, per ESPN's Jeff Borzello.
"He took me under his wing. He saw my potential. He put me in games and believed in me and instilled a lot of confidence in me," Holt told ESPN's Paul Biancardi, per Borzello.
The Wildcats' 2026 recruiting class was previously led by four-star shooting guard Cameron Holmes, who signed a letter of intent with the program in November. Holmes is listed as the No. 3 national prospect and No. 11 small forward in the class by 247Sports composite rankings.
Arizona, which is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation on the AP Top 25 poll, finished the regular season on top of the Big 12 and will head into their conference tournament with a double-bye and aspirations of an automatic bid to March madness.
The latest Bleacher Report mock projects that four of Arizona's five starters— including Brayden Burries, Koa Peat, Motiejus Krivas and Jaden Bradley— wil hear their names called in the upcoming draft. Starting forward Ivan Kharchenkov could potentially end up as a draft pick as well.
Bringing in two top-rated prospects in Holt and Holmes could be a good place for Lloyd to start if he is ultimately tasked with managing complete roster turnover next fall.
