NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain has countless unbeatable records, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is closing in on breaking one of them.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star notched his 126th consecutive game with 20-plus points, tying Chamberlain's record.

"It's still a lot to even wrap my head around," Gilgeous-Alexander said following the game, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon. "To be honest with you, I try not to even think about it, especially during the season. So much is going on. So many things have to go right for you to get what you ultimately want. That gets 100% of my focus, especially basketball-wise. But obviously, being in a conversation with a guy like that, it's special. It's crazy to think that, [considering] where I was 10 years ago, I'd be here today."

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic also praised SGA following the game, per MacMahon:

"I don't know that people know how hard it is to do that," Jokic said. "To make 20 points in 10 [straight] games, not 120 whatever it is, it's special. He's a special player."

Fans were also quick to voice their amazement of SGA's feat on social media:

Chamberlain was one of the most prolific scorers of all time, averaging 30.1 points per game across 14 seasons and even posting 50.1 points per game in his third year in the league.

Chamberlain holds countless NBA records, like his 100 points in a single game. Any time a player is mentioned in the same breath as Chamberlain, it's a big deal.

Like Chamberlain, Gilgeous-Alexander has established himself as one of the best scorers in recent memory over the last few years, putting up 30-plus points per game in each of the last four seasons. The reigning MVP is putting up 31.6 points, 6.4 assists and 4.4 boards per game, leading the Thunder to a 50-15 record, the best mark in the West.

Gilgeous-Alexander is well on his way to another MVP award if he keeps up his pace, though he'll have to avoid missing many more games so he can meet the 65-game threshold to stay eligible for postseason awards.

OKC will face the Thunder on Thursday, where Gilgeous-Alexander will look to break Chamberlain's record that once seemed untouchable.
