Darius Garland's Clippers Debut Date Reportedly Set After Trade from Cavs, Injury Rehab

Zach BacharFeb 28, 2026

Los Angeles Clippers guard Darius Garland will make his team debut during a matchup with the Golden State Warriors on Monday, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

The Clippers acquired Garland from the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for James Harden on Feb. 3, although he hasn't appeared in a game since Jan. 14 due to a right big toe sprain.

Garland has been making progress in his rehab as of late, earning praise from Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue after participating in a scrimmage on Tuesday.

"He's looked great," Lue said, per Janis Carr of the Orange County Register. "He looked really good. Moving, going both ways, had a great pace. Of course, the shot-making is great, but as far as movement, he looked really good."

Garland has suited up in just 26 games this year due to toe issues, as his season debut was delayed as he recovered from offseason surgery on his left big toe.

The two-time All-Star hasn't been as efficient compared to past years when available, but has still showcased his pull-up shooting and playmaking abilities.

Garland is averaging 18.0 points, 6.9 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from three-point territory during his 2025-26 campaign.

He should provide a boost to a Los Angeles squad that has struggled to find consistent offensive production alongside star forward Kawhi Leonard as of late. The Clippers own a 111.1 offensive rating since the trade deadline, which ranks No. 23 among all teams over that span (via NBA.com).

Still, Los Angeles remains within the play-in tournament picture by holding the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference standings with a 27-31 record.

Tip-off against the Warriors on Monday is at 10 p.m. ET.
