Wemby Reveals 'I Couldn't Sleep' and 'Wasn't In Shape' Before Spurs' Comeback Win vs. Raptors
The San Antonio Spurs keep winning games despite Victor Wembanyama apparently not playing at the peak of his powers during Wednesday's game against the Toronto Raptors.
Speaking to reporters after the Spurs' 110-107 win, Wembanyama revealed he "didn't recover" well leading up to the game due to their recent schedule that made it so "I couldn't sleep" the night before and "wasn't in shape" to play the Raptors.
"I didn't recover tonight," he said. "With all the time changes from L.A. to here, and coming late from Detroit, I wasn't recovered today. I need to do a better job getting my treatment in, getting more sleep. I couldn't sleep last night. Yeah, I wasn't in shape today."

Wembanyama scored just 12 points, tied for his second-fewest in a game this season. He shot 3-of-12 from the field and has connected on just 32.1 percent of his field-goal attempts over the past two games.
Despite Wembanyama's shooting struggles, the Spurs were able to pull off a second-half comeback to extend their winning streak to 10 games. They trailed 90-75 in the final minute of the third quarter, but outscored Toronto by 15 points in the fourth quarter to steal the victory.
The final period saw Wembanyama do his best work in the game. He scored six of his 12 points, grabbed five rebounds and had three blocks in 10 minutes, so seems like he figured something out along the way.
Wembanyama's feeling of being out of shape is understandable given San Antonio's recent schedule. The Spurs hosted the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night, traveled to Detroit for a game against the Pistons on Monday and flew to Toronto for Wednesday's game.
Things won't get easier because the Spurs play the second night of a back-to-back on Thursday against the Nets in Brooklyn before getting two days off leading up to a marquee game at Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks on Sunday.
After a game next Tuesday in Philadelphia against the Sixers, Wembanyama and the Spurs will begin their longest homestand of the season on March 5 in a rematch with the Pistons.
