
James Harden-Donovan Mitchell Duo Thrills NBA Fans as Cavs Beat Jalen Brunson, KAT, Knicks
James Harden and Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 109-94 win over the New York Knicks at Rocket Arena on Tuesday night.
Harden finished with 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting, dishing out four assists and grabbing two rebounds.
Mitchell scored 23 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists of his own. While he shot just 5-of-18 from the field, he made his presence felt defensively by picking up three steals.
Fans and pundits were impressed with the duo of Harden and Mitchell.
Cleveland opened Tuesday's contest on a high note, starting the game on a 19-12 run before eventually holding a nine-point edge at the end of the first quarter.
The Cavaliers pushed their lead to 12 points early in the second, but the Knicks responded with a 7-1 run to remain within striking distance.
New York later cut the deficit to one point, although Cleveland bounced back with a quick 8-0 run of its own to create more breathing room.
The Cavs led 60-54 at the half.
Cleveland eventually pulled away in the third quarter, as the Knicks struggled mightily after halftime. New York scored just 11 points in the third, shooting 3-of-24 from the floor and 1-of-12 from behind the arc during the period.
The Cavaliers held an 18-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and cruised to the win, maintaining a double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest.
For the Knicks, Jalen Brunson scored 20 points on 6-of-19 shooting. Brunson dished out four assists compared to two turnovers.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds while hitting all five of his shot attempts, but committed five turnovers.
New York and Cleveland now own identical 37-22 records following Tuesday's result.
