San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama expects the 2026 NBA All-Star Game to be competitive.

"Exclamation-point plays, playing in a solid manner and sharing the ball with energy," Wembanyama said, per McMenamin. "If you share that energy, people feel like they have a responsibility to share it back to you."
The competitiveness of the All-Star contest has been a topic of discussion in recent years, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver saying "we may be just past the point where guys and teams are incentivized to play a competitive All-Star game in the middle of the season" in June 2024.
The league introduced a new format for the 2026 edition of the game, as two teams consisting of players from the United States and one team of international players are set to face off in a round-robin tournament.
Wembanyama will be part of the international squad that also features superstars such as Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić and Los Angeles Lakers forward Luka Dončić.
As for Wembanyama, the 22-year-old is in the midst of another strong season with the Spurs. He's averaged 24.4 points and 11.1 rebounds to go along with a league-leading 2.7 blocks per game, shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from behind the arc.
The 2026 All-Star Game begins on Sunday at 5 p.m. ET.
