Victor Wembanyama Says He 'Definitely' Sees Himself Becoming the Next 'Face' of the NBA

San Antonio Spurs big man Victor Wembanyama "definitely" believes he can be the "face" of the NBA someday, per comments made to NBA insider Chris Haynes, who asked the two-time All-Star how he potentially sees himself as the face of the league.

"Oh, of course, definitely see it happening," Wembanyama said. "I think it's the natural course of things. Supply and demand, and I'm here to supply."

Wembanyama was also asked during NBA All-Star Media Day about what he's learned from Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James in regards to how he's represented the league over the past two decades.

"I actually think LeBron is very intelligent in those areas in him obviously being the face of the league.

"To the case, having very few PR mistakes, so I think that definitely takes some intelligence. I think there's many things to take from him. I've never had the chance to spend that time with him to have a full discussion, but I would love to.

"There's...many millions of basketball players on Earth, and all of them can learn something from LeBron."

Wembanyama was one of the greatest prospects in NBA draft history just three years ago, and he's certainly met the hype thus far. He won Rookie of the Year honors in 2023-24 while landing on the NBA's All-Defensive First Team.

He followed that up with his first-ever All-Star Game appearance in 2025. Unfortunately, Wembanyama's season was cut short due to deep vein thrombosis.

This season, Wembanyama is averaging 24.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.7 blocks per game for the second-place Spurs, who went from missing the playoffs entirely last year to becoming a championship contender this year.

Wembanyama isn't the face of the NBA right now, but he's certainly one of its brightest stars. And if the Spurs win a championship soon (perhaps as soon as this year), the "face of the NBA" honor could be his for quite some time.
