Luka Doncic Injury Update, Latest NBA Rumors on Lakers Star's Status For All-Star Game
Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Dončić, who missed his last team's last four games with a mild hamstring strain, will participate in the All-Star Game on Sunday, albeit on a minutes restriction, per Dan Woike of The Athletic.
This year's All-Star Game is a three-team round robin featuring two American teams (Stars and Stripes) and a World Team in shortened 12-minute games. The top two teams from the round robin will play in a 12-minute championship game.
Dončić, therefore, will be participating in the first game of the day, featuring his World Team against Stars, which will tip off at 5 p.m. ET. He will sit the game against Stripes and the championship match if the World team gets that far.
Dončić has enjoyed a tremendous season with the Lakers, averaging an NBA-high 32.8 points, 8.6 assists, 7.8 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. L.A. currently sits fifth in the Western Conference with a 33-21 record.
One can guess Dončić may be ready to come back on a full-time basis shortly if he's participating in the All-Star Game, even on a limited capacity. His next chance to play for the Lakers will be Friday at home against the Los Angeles Clippers.
