Mac McClung Reveals He Turned Down 'Millions' In Overseas Contract Offers to Pursue NBA Roster
Three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung provided some insight this week into the sacrifices he has made to chase his NBA dream.
Speaking to ESPN's Anthony Olivieri, McClung discussed the offers he has turned down from overseas teams in recent years, saying, "Millions of dollars … but this [NBA quest] is where my heart's at."
A 27-year-old guard who starred collegiately at Texas Tech, McClung is best known for winning the NBA Slam Dunk Contest three consecutive times from 2023 to 2025.
Despite that, McClung has only appeared in 10 NBA regular-season games with five different teams since 2021.
In limited opportunities, McClung owns career averages of 5.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
This season, McClung has played in four games split between the Indiana Pacers and Chicago Bulls, averaging 5.8 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
While his NBA looks have been fleeting, McClung is consistently among the top players in the G League, playing for four different teams over the past five seasons.
A 2023 G League champion, 2024 G League MVP and two-time G League First Team selection, McClung has averaged 23.4 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 2.4 three-pointers made and 1.2 steals in 132 career G League regular-season games.
Playing for the Windy City Bulls, this season has perhaps been his best one yet, averaging a career-high 27.4 points and 7.5 assists per contest.
That resulted in McClung signing a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls this month and getting into a game with the team last week.
McClung was set to compete in the Rising Stars game on Friday night, but he was replaced by Miami's Jahmir Young due to a calf injury.
