Tyreek Hill Updates Knee Injury Rehab amid NFL Rumors on Dolphins Future Ahead of Free Agency
Uncertainty remains regarding Tyreek Hill's future with the Miami Dolphins, but the wide receiver provided a positive injury update as he recovers from the torn ACL and dislocated knee he suffered in September.
"I'm feeling good. I mean, I'm walking with no brace on right now," he told Skyler Caruso of People. "I'm in my second week of walking with no brace, so I'm proud of that. So I'm feeling good."
He suffered the setback in a Week 4 game against the New York Jets on Sept. 29.
On the day after the injury, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said the surgery was successful and "it's about rehab, and he will play next season," per ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques. "The realistic goal is the start of the season."
Hill said in October he wasn't sure if he was going to return to football.
The 2026 campaign is also the final year on his contract, and he is set to make $29.9 million in base salary with a $51.9 million cap hit. That contract makes his future uncertain at best, and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported last month that the Dolphins will "almost assuredly" release the wide receiver prior to mid-March.
Jackson explained that $11 million of the $29 million of base salary becomes guaranteed in mid-March if he is still on the team. He will also be owed a $5 million roster bonus.
Cutting him before that $11 million becomes guaranteed would drop Hill's overall cap hit from $51.9 million to $28.2 million.
This offseason has been a reset for Miami after hiring new head coach Jeff Hafley and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan.
Moving on from Hill—and perhaps quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as well—would give the new brass more flexibility to put together an ideal roster as Miami looks to compete in the AFC East next season and beyond.
