Drake Maye, Patriots Extend Wild 1st-Quarter NFL Super Bowl Stat Involving Tom Brady
The New England Patriots' offense had a rough start to Super Bowl 60 on Sunday.
The Pats went scoreless in the first quarter, something fans aren't used to seeing from them. The last time New England didn't score in the first quarter of a Super Bowl game was in 1996 when Drew Bledsoe was under center.

The good news for Drake Maye and the Patriots is that the defense showed up early and limited Seattle to just three points in the first quarter, so a major comeback isn't needed.
A defensive battle was somewhat expected since the Seahawks allowed the fewest points per game (17.2) in the NFL this season, while the Patriots allowed the fourth-fewest points per game (18.8).
Both teams also had offenses that ranked in the top three in points per game this year, but their outstanding defenses have been the storyline through the early going.
Maye and the Pats are looking for their first Super Bowl victory since 2018, and their first of the post-Tom Brady and Bill Belichick era. The Seahawks haven't won it all since 2013.
Considering how low scoring the game has been thus far, whoever is able to get in the endzone first could decide who wins.
