Giannis Posts 'Wolf of Wall Street' Video After NBA Trade Deadline Rumors, 'Legends Don't Chase'
Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo reacted to staying put at the 2026 trade deadline on social media.
Antetokounmpo posted the famous "I'm not f--king leaving" clip from The Wolf of Wall Street on X as well as Instagram.
"Legends don't chase," Antetokounmpo wrote in the caption of both posts. "They attract."
ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Bucks indicated to opposing teams that they would be keeping the two-time MVP roughly three hours before Thursday's trade deadline after the Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves showed interest in him.
Milwaukee had been listening to offers for Antetokounmpo as well as engaging and countering a few of them, per ESPN's Jamal Collier.
He previously expressed a desire to remain with the Bucks, but also wanted the opportunity to compete for the playoffs on an annual basis.
"Brother, if you ask me deep down what I want today, I want to be a Milwaukee Buck for the rest of my career," Antetokounmpo told Eric Nehm of The Athletic. "I want to win here, another championship. And if you can tell me that's possible, let's just hang up the phone."
"I want to be here, but I want to be here to win, not fighting for my life to make the playoffs," he added. "I'm not used to inconsistent basketball. I've played so many years of consistent basketball, I am not used to it anymore."
Milwaukee sits at No. 12 in the Eastern Conference standings with a 20-29 record. The Bucks are also 5-14 in the 19 games that Antetokounmpo has missed this year and he currently remains sidelined with a calf strain.
The 31-year-old has still been a dominant two-way force when healthy, averaging 28.0 points and 10.0 rebounds to go along with 5.6 assists per game while shooting 64.5 percent from the field.
The Bucks could entertain trade discussions involving Antetokounmpo once again in the offseason, or they could choose to build around him. They were linked to Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant ahead of the deadline and may resume negotiations over the summer.
For now, Antetokounmpo isn't going anywhere.
