Bucks Share Cryptic Post, Appear to Troll Giannis Trade Rumors at 2026 NBA Deadline

Amid the hustle and bustle of NBA trade deadline day, the Milwaukee Bucks made a post Thursday on X that may have alluded to the absence of a blockbuster trade involving Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Less than three hours before the deadline, the Bucks simply posted a yawning emoji on their official X account:

The post was made about a half-hour after ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Bucks had informed teams they plan on keeping Antetokounmpo through the deadline before potentially exploring trades again during the offseason.

As a 10-time All-Star, two-time NBA MVP, one-time NBA champion and one-time NBA Finals MVP, Giannis is undoubtedly among the best players in Bucks franchise history.

However, trade rumors have been swirling around him since the offseason, and they recently heated up more than ever before.

Last week, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that teams were making "aggressive offers" for Antetokounmpo, and while the Bucks were reluctant to engage in the past, they were finally "starting to listen."

Charania listed the Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks as the main suitors for Giannis' services.

With the Bucks sitting in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with a 20-29 record, there was plenty of thought that a Giannis trade would finally come to fruition, but those conversations will be delayed once again until the summer.

Although Giannis is currently on the shelf with a calf strain and has been limited to 30 games this season due to injury, he continues to put up MVP-caliber numbers at 31 years of age, averaging 28.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 5.6 assists per contest.

Entering this season, Antetokounmpo finished fourth or better in the NBA MVP voting in seven consecutive seasons, and he led the Bucks to their first championship 1971 at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season.

Given his place in Bucks history, parting ways with Giannis could prove difficult, and it could be why the organization has remained reluctant.

While Antetokounmpo is poised to remain with the Bucks through the conclusion of this season, it is unclear if or when he will return to the court during the current campaign, and whether a trade may happen during the summer.

Although the biggest domino did not fall for the Bucks on Thursday, they did end up making a minor move with Charania reporting that they agreed to send guards Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey to the Phoenix Suns for center Nick Richards and wing Nigel Hayes-Davis.
