Durant is unique in that he is an all-time great player who is not primarily associated with one NBA franchise given that he has played for five different teams in his career.
LeBron James is another legend who has moved around a couple of times in his career, but the 11 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and winning the 2015-16 NBA championship cements them as the club he will be most associated with whenever he retires.
Durant's longest stretch with one organization was his nine-year run with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2008 to '16. He was great for them and they were great with him, but the lack of a title and how he left to join the Golden State Warriors at the time when they were vying with each other for the best team in the Western Conference complicates that legacy a bit.
That time in Oklahoma City does cover half of Durant's 18 seasons thus far, so it's not hard to argue for the Thunder.
Durant is arguably the most successful men's player in the history of USA Basketball. He has won four gold medals in four Olympic appearances from 2012 to '24, ranks first all-time among men's or women's players in total points scored for Team USA and works on the USA Basketball Board of Directors as an athlete representative.
Diana Taurasi (six) and Sue Bird (five) are the only basketball players with more Olympic gold medals than Durant.
