College Football's Most Important Offers of the Week
The tale of 3-star offensive lineman Gavin Cupp is a microcosm of the twists and turns in the recruiting process.
The 6'5", 270-pound offensive tackle committed to Big Ten power Michigan State in May.
When he took a visit to in-state power Ohio State last month, however, the Spartans pulled his scholarship offer, as detailed by Sean Scherer of 247Sports.
Instead of letting that news get to him, Cupp turned in a strong performance at the Buckeyes' Friday Night Lights camp, which resulted in an offer from the defending national champions, as noted by Bill Kurelic of 247Sports.
Cupp has 15 offers to his credit, with Illinois, Missouri, Pittsburgh and West Virginia among the programs that have tendered him.
But the Buckeyes could prove tough to beat now that they have jumped in the race. Ohio State currently has three commitments from offensive linemen—two guards and one tackle—in its 2016 class.
The recent run on Cupp's 247Sports crystal ball page seems to indicate that it's a matter of if, not when, Cupp decides to make a pledge to the Buckeyes.

UCLA Offers Brother of 4-Star LB Commit
One of the most notable commitments in UCLA's 2016 class is 4-star linebacker Lokeni Toailoa.
Last week, the Bruins tendered Toailoa's younger brother—3-star safety and current San Jose State pledge Leni Toailoa.
"Extremely Happy And Blessed To Have Received My 8th Offer From Ucla #8Clap #4sUp @ArmondSr @_groundzer0 pic.twitter.com/JPicSxwC8o
— Leni Toailoa (@Leni_Uno) July 30, 2015"
As Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports noted, the Bruins could be in line to earn a flip from Leni in the near future.
If that occurs, it's likely to also end the recruitment of both brothers.
Florida, FSU Offer 2017 CB
One of the nation's hottest 2017 prospects is 4-star Georgia corner William Poole III.
Poole, who rates as the position's No. 11 prospect in the 2017 class, picked up offer Nos. 29 and 30 last week from Florida and Florida State, respectively.

The 6'0", 170-pounder also holds offers from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and LSU, among others.
But both the Gators and the Seminoles have had success in cherry-picking talent from the Peach State before. It looks like the Sunshine State powers will try to do it again with Poole.
LSU Offers 2018 4-Star DE
Four-star defensive end Xavier Thomas is catching the attention of colleges across the country.
The 6'3", 242-pound South Carolina prospect's most recent offer is from SEC power LSU.
"Blessed and Honored to say I have just recieved an offer from LSU #GoTigers @PaulStrelowTI @ChadCarson247 pic.twitter.com/tQ7QeFykwj
— Xavier Thomas (@atxlete) July 30, 2015"
The nation's No. 2 strong-side defensive end in the 2018 class also boasts offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
While there is a long way to go in his recruitment, Thomas' offer list should swell in the coming months.
