UNC's Bill Belichick Visits 4-Star Recruit Mekai Brown in Photo After Reported Hall of Fame Snub
North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick isn't letting his reported Pro Football Hall of Fame snub impact his recruiting for the Tar Heels.
Belichick visited with edge-rusher Mekai Brown on Wednesday.
Brown is a 4-Star prospect listed as the No. 6 edge-rusher and No. 57 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
North Carolina initially extended him an offer on Jan. 12.
Brown has also received offers from other schools including Auburn, Georgia, Indiana, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
He'd be a major addition to a Tar Heels 2027 class that only ranks No. 24 in the country with three commits (via 247Sports).
As for Belichick, ESPN's Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham reported Tuesday that he didn't receive the 40 out of 50 votes required for induction to the Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility.
It was a surprising development regarding the 73-year-old, as he won six Super Bowl titles during his 24-year tenure as head coach of the New England Patriots and owned an overall record of 333-178. Belichick also secured a pair of championships as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants.
For now, he'll look to help North Carolina build upon its 4-8 record in 2025.
