Fernando Mendoza Joins '99 Club' in EA College Football 26 After Indiana's CFP Title Win
Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza was recognized for his impressive 2025 season in EA Sports' College Football 26.
Mendoza joined the video game's "99 Club," as his player rating was boosted to 99 overall after helping the Hoosiers capture the College Football Playoff national championship with a 27-21 win over Miami in the title game.
He's now the only player in the game with a 99 overall rating, while Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and Miami edge-rusher Rueben Bain Jr. are both listed at 98 overall.
Mendoza led Indiana to a perfect 16-0 record, completing 72.0 percent of his passes for 3,535 yards and 41 touchdowns compared to a mere six interceptions in 16 starts. He also made plays with his legs, rushing for 276 yards and seven scores.
The 22-year-old was eventually named the 2025 Heisman Trophy winner.
Mendoza stayed sharp throughout Indiana's CFP run, tossing eight touchdowns without getting picked off in four playoff games.
During the Hoosiers' national championship victory over Miami, he finished 16-of-27 for 186 yards. His performance was highlighted by a 12-yard touchdown run on fourth down that gave Indiana a two-score lead in the final quarter.
Mendoza will now prepare to start playing on Sundays, as he recently declared for the 2026 NFL draft.
He shouldn't have to wait long to hear his name called, as he was projected to be off the board with the No. 1 overall pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's NFL Scouting Department.
While Mendoza begins the pre-draft process, his junior season with the Hoosiers won't be forgotten anytime soon.
