Brandon Aiyuk's Future with 49ers Updated by GM John Lynch amid NFL Rumors
After missing the entire 2025 season, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk's time in the Bay Area is coming to an end.
49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters on Wednesday that Aiyuk won't be back with the team in 2026.
"It's safe to say he's played his last game as a Niner," Lynch said, per ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini and Michael Silver reported in November that the 49ers voided the guarantees remaining on Aiyuk's contract, and he told NFL Players Association representatives that he wouldn't file an official grievance to fight the move.
It was just over a year ago that San Francisco signed the 2020 first-round pick to a four-year, $120 million contract extension prior to the 2024 season following a contentious holdout.
Unfortunately, that same year was when it all came crashing down for Aiyuk. The 27-year-old tore his ACL and MCL just seven games into the season, putting his status in question for the start of the 2025 campaign. He was placed on the PUP list in July, and his relationship with the franchise deteriorated even further in the ensuing months.
Sources told Russini and Silver at the time that Aiyuk "failed to attend meetings and declined to participate in other team activities in recent months, and the 49ers have grown increasingly frustrated with the receiver's lack of communication."
Aiyuk was named second-team All-Pro in 2023 after recording a career-high 1,342 receiving yards, so he can be a strong source of production when healthy.
His departure from San Francisco could create some hesitation from teams thinking about committing to him, but he still will likely have a strong market when he hits free agency for the first time in his career.
