Fernando Mendoza's Epic TD Run in CFP Title Game Has Fans Eyeing NFL Future with Raiders
Fernando Mendoza has already given the Las Vegas Raiders enough reasons to draft him with the No. 1 overall pick in April, but he's given them a few more during Monday's national championship game.
The Indiana star quarterback showed why he's the Heisman Trophy winner and why he'll likely go first overall in this year's draft with a tough rushing touchdown against Miami in the fourth quarter. Mendoza took multiple hits and somehow still found the endzone.
The play gave NFL fans a glimpse of Mendoza's potential future with the Raiders.
Mendoza is the consensus top quarterback in this year's draft class, especially with Oregon's Dante Moore set to return to college next year. Whether he'll be under center for the Raiders in the fall remains to be seen.
Raiders owner Mark Davis, minority owner Tom Brady and general manager John Spytek were all in attendance at Monday's national championship game, presumably to get one last look at Mendoza before making their decision.
