NBA Rumors on Potential Jaren Jackson Jr. Trade Amid Buzz on Ja Morant's Future With Grizzlies

Memphis Grizzlies center Jaren Jackson Jr. is reportedly generating interest on the trade market while Ja Morant's long-term future with the organization remains uncertain.

According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons are among the "various teams across the league" that have expressed a desire to trade for Jackson.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported Jan. 9 that the Grizzlies were entertaining offers for Morant for the first time.

Charania noted Memphis was considering building around Jackson instead.

Despite the Grizzlies' desire to focus on crafting their roster around Jackson, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported there's been a "lot of discussion around the league" wondering if the feeling was mutual.

Memphis currently sits at No. 10 in the Western Conference standings with a 17-23 record. If the Grizzlies decide to trade Morant, Jackson may not want to stick around for a rebuild.

The 2023 Defensive Player of the Year has averaged 18.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game while shooting 48.2 percent from the field during his 2025-26 campaign.

It's easy to see why teams looking to contend in the Eastern Conference such as the Celtics and Pistons would be interested in Jackson given his defensive acumen and ability to space the floor, as he's connected on 37.5 percent of his catch-and-shoot threes this season (via NBA.com).

The 2025-26 trade deadline is on Feb. 5 at 3 p.m. ET.
