Is Malachi Toney Related to Kadarius Toney? When Is Miami WR Eligible for NFL Draft?

Malachi Toney's true freshman season will wrap up Monday when Miami plays for a national title against Indiana.

The College Football Playoff finale at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium won't be the last time fans get to see Toney play in the NCAA.

The 18-year-old is set to play in two more seasons of college football before he can enter the NFL draft for the first time in 2028.

Toney started college early after skipping his senior year of high school in order to reclassify as a member of the Class of 2025.

That paid off for both Toney and the Hurricanes as the wide receiver racked up 99 catches for 1,089 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns in 15 games of his true freshman season.

Toney is not related to Kadarius Toney, the former star wideout from Florida who played four NFL seasons from 2021 to 2024.

He is, however, the son of a different NFLer. Toney's father, Antonio Brown, played 26 games over three seasons split between Buffalo and Washington from 2003 to 2005.

Toney will look to wrap up his first college season by helping Carson Beck and the Hurricanes beat out Indiana for the national title following Monday night's 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

NFL scouts will likely keep an eye on Toney over the next two seasons. If he is able to build on his successful freshman campaign, he could potentially wind up as a top wide receiver in the 2028 NFL draft.
