Miami vs. Indiana 2026 CFP National Championship Odds, Predictions and More

Joe TanseyJan 16, 2026

The Indiana Hoosiers will try to become the third straight College Football Playoff champion from the Big Ten on Monday night.

Indiana comes into Hard Rock Stadium as more than a touchdown favorite against the Miami Hurricanes.

Miami, the No. 10 seed, is aiming to become the first national champion from the ACC since the Clemson Tigers won in the 2018-19 season.

Preview

Indiana's been the dominant force in college football all season long.

Curt Cignetti's team is one win away from an undefeated season, led by the Heisman Trophy winner and potential No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Fernando Mendoza has been excellent during Indiana's playoff run. He has a pair of running backs and three reliable wide outs to work with on offense.

Indiana's key to success will be to spread out the Miami defense with its abundance of offensive threats.

Miami's defense allowed 398 total yards and 27 points to the Ole Miss Rebels in the semifinal round after limiting the Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas A&M Aggies to a combined 17 points.

Prior to the Ole Miss game, Miami held six straight opponents to 17 points or fewer. If the Hurricanes revert back to that form on home soil on Monday, Indiana will have trouble moving the ball and we could see a low-scoring game.

Indiana's defense let up 10 points or fewer in four straight games before the semifinal round. The Hoosiers allowed 22 to the Oregon Ducks, but 15 of those points came in the second half when the Big Ten side already had the win wrapped up.

Indiana outscored Oregon 35-7 in the first half of the semifinal. A similar first half performance on Monday could put the Hoosiers in great shape by the third quarter.

The Hoosiers must slow down Mark Fletcher, who ran for at least 90 yards in all three of Miami's playoff games. If he gets slowed, Miami has to rely more on Carson Beck's arm. There's more room for mistakes to be made if the Hurricanes have to air it out 30-40 times.

Miami can match Indiana play-for-play on defense, but the Hoosiers' deep group of offensive playmakers could be the difference in a tight game.

Prediction: Indiana 20, Miami 13
