Dodgers' Luxury Tax Bill is More Than 12 MLB Teams' Total Payrolls, How Much Does LAD Owe?
The rich got richer on Thursday when the Los Angeles Dodgers signed coveted free agent Kyle Tucker, but their talented roster also comes with a massive luxury tax bill.
By adding Tucker on a reported four-year, $240 million deal, the Dodgers now have an estimated tax payroll of $413.4 million, per Spotrac. This leads to a luxury tax bill of $161.8 million, a number that is higher than the total payroll of 12 MLB teams.
The Milwaukee Brewers have the 19th highest payroll in the majors at $155.6 million.
No one else in the majors has a luxury tax bill of more than $60 million, with the New York Mets coming in second at $55.7 million.
Spending big has earned the Dodgers back-to-back World Series titles, and they'll hope that strategy pays off once again in 2026.
