5-Stars Keon Keeley, Quincy Porter Transfer to Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame from Alabama, Ohio State

After Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman announced last month that he will remain with the team for the 2026 season, the Fighting Irish kept the positive vibes going with even more good news on Monday.

Ohio State wide receiver Quincy Porter announced that he is transferring to Notre Dame, and Alabama transfer edge rusher Keon Keeley announced he will be joining the Fighting Irish as well. Both of them were 5-star prospects in their respective recruiting classes.

Porter was ranked as the No. 5 wide receiver in the class of 2025 in 247Sports' composite. He appeared in three games as a true freshman for the Buckeyes and recorded four catches for 59 yards.

247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described Porter as a "big-featured linear threat with good long speed and no shortage of potential" who "should be viewed as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the 2025 cycle with his size and athleticism." The 6'4", 210-pound youngster will provide a big target for Notre Dame returning starting quarterback CJ Carr.

Keeley was ranked as the No. 1 edge rusher and No. 2 overall player in the class of 2023 in 247Sports' composite. He had visited Notre Dame during his high school recruitment process. In 2025, he appeared in seven games and finished the year with 13 total tackles and three sacks.

Ivins wrote that Keeley "should be viewed as a future impact player on Saturdays and someone that will make a lot of money on Sundays if he can keep progressing. Pro-like mindset and ability to flip a switch once the lights come on is hard to find these days."

Freeman is drawing interest from NFL teams in search of a new head coach, but for now, it seems clear that he's committed to moving forward with Notre Dame. Landing Porter and Keeley could help solidify the Fighting Irish as the favorites to win a national championship in 2026.
