5-Star QB Deuce Knight Commits to Ole Miss in Transfer Portal After Trinidad Chambliss Waiver Denied
Ole Miss is starting to prepare for life without star quarterback Trinidad Chambliss after his sixth year of eligibility was denied by the NCAA.
Per ESPN's Max Olson, Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight announced his commitment to Ole Miss through the transfer portal on Sunday. Knight was ranked as a 5-star prospect and the No. 5 quarterback in the class of 2025 in 247Sports' composite.
Knight made two appearances for the Tigers as a true freshman, including starting their 62-17 win over Mercer in November. He threw for 239 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions on 15-of-20 passing while also adding 162 rushing yards and four more touchdowns in the victory.

NFL draft trade ideas for every pick
247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins described Knight as a "dual-threat southpaw with a top-flight testing profile that has continued to improve as a passer." However, he added that the young signal-caller's injury history could cause some concern, but he could have a future in the NFL.
"Must stay healthy after dealing with a variety of different injuries and keep calibrating his craft, but should be viewed as a boom-or-burst signal caller that can provide no shortage of excitement in an up-tempo spread attack for a College Football Playoff contender if everything comes together," Ivins stated. "Could turn heads at the NFL Scouting Combine one day with his jumping metrics."
Chambliss' attorney, Tom Mars, told ESPN's Pete Thamel that Ole Miss will file an appeal of the NCAA's decision to deny him an extra year of eligibility. While Chambliss could enter the NFL draft following a strong showing in the College Football Playoff, Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported earlier this month that he already agreed to an NIL deal to return to Ole Miss for the 2026 season.
Still, it's clear that the Rebels are gearing up for the likelihood of being without Chambliss, so adding Knight is a strong move as they enter a new era under head coach Pete Golding.
