Lane Kiffin, LSU Reportedly Host 5-Star QB in Transfer Portal After Missing on Sorsby, Lagway
LSU head coach Lane Kiffin could be pivoting to target to another transfer quarterback after reportedly missing out on DJ Lagway and Brendan Sorsby.
USC transfer Husan Longstreet is expected to visit LSU, On3's Shea Dixon reported Saturday.
Longstreet was a consensus five-star prospect in the Class of 2025, per 247Sports.
LSU had previously been linked to Florida transfer Lagway, who has since committed to Baylor, and Cincinnati transfer Sorsby, who has since joined Texas Tech.
LSU had arranged a $3.5 million NIL offer in an attempt to sign Sorsby before he joined Texas Tech instead, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger.
ESPN's Pete Thamel said after Sorsby signed with Texas Tech that it "will be a surprise" if he doesn't make more than $5 million next season.
Kiffin has reportedly been interested in Longstreet since before the misses on Lagway and Sorsby.
Both he and LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis recruited Longstreet while still working for Ole Miss, LouisianaSports.net's Matt Moscona reported.
The news of Longstreet's visit comes the day after the former USC quarterback announced he would be entering the transfer portal.
Longstreet has four years of college eligibility still remaining after appearing in four games while backing up Jayden Maiava his true freshman season with the Trojans.
He finished the season having made just 15 pass attempts, completing 13 of them for 103 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, while also rushing 11 times for 76 yards and two touchdowns.
Maiava announced on Dec. 16 he would be returning to USC in 2026, setting Longstreet on track to back up for a second season had he remained in Los Angeles. He'll likely be hoping for more playing time with his next team.
Whether that next team is in Baton Rouge could hinge at least in part on former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt, who has been targeted by Kiffin but has also visited Tennessee and Miami.
