What Lamar Jackson Said About His, John Harbaugh's Ravens Future After Steelers Loss

Doric SamJan 5, 2026

After the Baltimore Ravens' devastating 26-24 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday night's season finale, star quarterback Lamar Jackson wasn't in the mood to discuss his future with the organization.

"We just lost a game, a divisional game, a game to put us in the playoffs," Jackson told reporters, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "I'm not even thinking about that right now, to be honest with you. I'm still caught up in what just happened. That's not my focus right now."

When asked if he wants John Harbaugh to return as Ravens head coach in 2026, Jackson's answer stayed the same.

"You're asking me about next year," he said. "I'm so caught up in what just happened tonight, I can't focus on that right now. I just told you. I'm stunned right now. I'm still trying to process what's going on."

The Ravens' season came to an end after rookie kicker Tyler Loop missed a potential game-winning field goal as time expired. Jackson put forth an inspiring performance with multiple clutch throws to help put Baltimore in position for a victory, but the team still came up short.

There were rumors indicating some tension between Jackson and Harbaugh, but the two-time NFL MVP shot down that speculation last week.

"Do you think Harbaugh would let me fall asleep in meetings? That's crazy. I'm right in the front. It's just noise," Jackson said Thursday, going on to add that he feels their relationship is strong. "I don't know where the noise came from."

Jackson is coming off an injury-riddled year, and his salary cap number will jump to $74.5 million in 2026, so it can be expected that the Ravens will want to restructure his deal. Baltimore could also look to evaluate Harbaugh's effectiveness as head coach, as the franchise hasn't seen much playoff success since its last Super Bowl victory in 2012.

It's likely that the speculation surrounding Jackson and Harbaugh will dominate the offseason until the Ravens make an official decision on their respective futures with the organization.
