Lane Kiffin, LSU Land Jaiden Bryant Commitment, Full Scouting Report on 5-Star EDGE
LSU landed a top prospect as part of its 2027 recruiting class under new head coach Lane Kiffin on Saturday.
According to On3.com's Hayes Fawcett, edge-rusher Jaiden Bryant committed to the Tigers.
Bryant is a 5-star prospect listed as the No. 5 edge-rusher and No. 34 overall player in the 2027 class, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
He appeared to be leaning towards choosing LSU prior to his commitment, as Steve Wiltfong of On3.com reported Tuesday that the Tigers were "at the top" of Bryant's list.
He received offers from several schools including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Michigan, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Bryant is a Columbia, South Carolina native and visited the Gamecocks' campus in Sept. 2025. A coaching change swayed his final decision, though.
Gamecocks assistant coach Sterling Lucas left the team to officially become LSU's new defensive line coach on Dec. 22, with Bryant reacting to the move in a pair of posts on social media.
"The connection I had with coach Sterling Lucas and him leaving South Carolina and going to LSU. It just made my recruitment process very easy," Bryant explained, per Lou Bezjak of The State. "I had that good connection, and it was a good fit for me."
He amassed 23 tackles for loss and 11 sacks during his junior season at Irmo High School in 2025, with 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins believing that he had even more room to grow as a pass-rusher.
"Already pretty advanced with his mitts, but further technical work should result in only more pressures," Ivins wrote in his scouting report. "Must also get better at establishing leverage and rooting against double teams."
Bryant and quarterback prospect Peyton Houston are now the first two recruits in LSU's 2027 class.
