How Many People Watched Record-Setting Pop-Tarts Bowl Between BYU, Georgia Tech?

Paul KasabianJan 2, 2026

The Pop-Tarts Bowl has quickly become a sports and pop culture phenomenon ever since its inception in 2023. Fans clearly love the event, and that's evidenced by this year's viewership number of 8.7 million, which makes the 2025 bowl the most-watched non-College Football Playoff or New Year's Six bowl game since the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1, 2020.

No. 12 BYU overcame a 21-10 fourth quarter deficit to defeat No. 22 Georgia Tech 25-21 in this year's game. As excellent as the game was this year, the events on the field sometimes take a back seat to the Pop-Tart shenanigans, including the annual sacrifice of edible mascots to the winners.

BYU head coach Kalani Sitake also ate a Pop-Tart in one bite, which remains one of the greatest moments of this bowl season.

Some highlights from the Pop-Tart action can be found below.

BYU joined Kansas State and Iowa State as winners of the Pop-Tarts Bowl.
