Texas Tech Reveals All-Black Uniforms For CFP Matchup vs. Oregon in Photos

The Texas Tech Red Raiders announced Tuesday that they will wear black-on-black uniforms for their College Football Playoff quarterfinal against the Oregon Ducks at the Orange Bowl on Thursday.

In a post on X, Texas Tech showed off photos of a player on the beach decked out in the all-black unis with black helmets:

Thursday will mark the Red Raiders' first-ever CFP game on the heels of earning a first-round bye as the No. 4 seed.

After winning either seven or eight games in four straight seasons, Texas Tech took a huge step forward this season in head coach Joey McGuire's fourth year at the helm.

The Red Raiders are 12-1, marking their most wins in a single season in school history. They also won their first-ever Big 12 title by beating BYU in the Big 12 Championship Game, and their first conference title of any kind since winning the Southwest Conference in 1994.

An argument can be made that the Red Raiders boast the most complete team in the nation, as they rank second in points scored per game with 42.5 and third in points allowed per game with 10.9.

The offense is led by fifth-year quarterback Behren Morton, who has enjoyed a career year by completing 67.0 percent of his passes for 2,643 yards, 22 touchdowns and just four interceptions.

On defense, linebacker Jacob Rodriguez is the heart and soul, as he recorded 117 tackles, four interceptions and seven forced fumbles en route to being named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and finishing fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

As dominant as the Red Raiders have been this season, their first foray into the CFP could easily be a one-and-done affair.

That is because they are facing a supremely talented and battle-tested Oregon team that beat James Madison 51-34 in the first round to get to this point.

Like Texas Tech, the Ducks are 12-1 with their only loss coming against an Indiana team that is the lone remaining unbeaten in FBS.

Quarterback Dante Moore burst onto the scene this season under head coach Dan Lanning, completing 72.4 percent of his passing attempts for 3,046 yards, 28 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while also rushing for 196 yards and two scores.

The Ducks will undoubtedly be a tough out, but if the Red Raiders can get the better of them, there will be no question that they are a legitimate national title threat.
