Pop-Tarts Bowl Celebrated by CFB Fans, Top Videos, Photos, Moments from GT vs. BYU
No. 12 BYU scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat No. 22 Georgia Tech 25-21 in the Pop-Tarts Bowl on Saturday.
It was a great game, but this is the Pop-Tarts Bowl, and the festivities and pageantry surrounding this prestigious event took center stage.
With respect to the Masters, the tradition unlike any other happened at midfield on Saturday evening as two Pop-Tarts (this time Cookies & Cream and Cherry) were sacrificed for BYU's consumption following its victory.
Not only did BYU head coach Kalani Sitake receive a Pop-Tarts shower after the win, but he also completely devoured one of them in one bite.
Some other sights and sounds from the big day can be found below.
As for the game, BYU trailed 21-10 entering the fourth but roared back thanks to a two-yard touchdown run from Enoch Nawahine (a successful two-point conversion followed) and a four-yard TD run via Jovesa Damuni.
The Cougars then withstood a last-gasp effort from Georgia Tech in the final seconds capped by Evan Johnson's interception in the end zone with six seconds left after the Yellow Jackets faced a 4th-and-10 from the BYU 18-yard line.
BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw for 325 yards, and tight end Carsen Ryan amassed 120 receiving yards on eight catches to lead the 12-2 Cougars.
