Dante Moore, Oregon Blow Out JMU to Advance in CFP Bracket as Fans Hype TTU Matchup
No. 5 Oregon cruised to a 51-34 win over No. 12 James Madison in their first-round College Football Playoff clash on Saturday night.
Ducks quarterback Dante Moore shined in the win, finishing 19-of-27 for 313 yards and four touchdowns despite tossing a pair of interceptions. Moore also recorded a fifth score on the ground.
Oregon will now face Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl, with fans and pundits looking forward to the matchup.
The Ducks started off strong in Saturday's contest, taking a 13-3 lead at the end of the first quarter before holding a commanding 34-6 edge at halftime.
James Madison was finally able to find the end zone twice in the third quarter and scored another 14 points in the fourth, but Oregon kept pace with the Dukes offensively and maintained an advantage of at least three scores for the remainder of the game.
Head coach Dan Lanning's squad amassed 514 total yards, with 201 coming on the ground.
Ducks running backs Jordon Davison and Dierre Hill Jr. combined to record 166 yards and a touchdown on a mere 16 carries.
Wide receiver Malik Benson made his presence felt as part of Oregon's passing attack, hauling in five receptions for 119 yards and two scores.
While the Ducks' second-half defensive woes could be a cause for concern heading into the battle with the Red Raiders, it's worth noting that James Madison entered Saturday's game with the No. 10 scoring offense in the country.
Oregon will face Texas Tech in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1 at 12 p.m. ET.
