Gerald McCoy Stunned OU Blew CFP Lead As Phone Was Locked Up at Dave Chappelle's Show
Former NFL star defensive tackle and Oklahoma standout Gerald McCoy revealed that he wasn't able to watch the Sooners' disappointing 34-24 loss to Alabama in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
McCoy explained on social media that he was seeing comedian Dave Chappelle perform a show and had his phone locked up, leading to his delayed realization that the Sooners held a 17-0 lead over the Crimson Tide before eventually giving up 27 straight points.
He was also dismayed after finding out that he missed the game's halftime performance by 50 Cent.
Oklahoma nearly pulled off a comeback of its own after trailing by 10 points in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 27-24 early in the fourth.
Another Alabama touchdown and a pair of missed field goals by Sooners kicker Tate Sandell ultimately sealed the final result, though.
Prior to McCoy's 11-year NFL career in which he earned six Pro Bowl nods, he suited up for Oklahoma from 2007-09.
He recorded 33 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks and two forced fumbles throughout his three seasons with the Sooners.
