Latest News on Domantas' Sabonis Timeline to Return to Kings Amid Knee Injury
Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis will miss between four and five more weeks as he continues to recover from a partial meniscus tear, NBA insider Marc Stein reported Friday.
Sabonis hasn't played since Nov. 16 due to the knee issue. He's appeared in just 11 of the Kings' first 27 games this season.
Sabonis previously missed time due to a hamstring strain that he suffered in the preseason before he was sidelined again because of a rib contusion.
The Kings have struggled both with and without him in their lineup this year, currently owning a 6-21 record and sitting at No. 13 in the Western Conference standings.
Sacramento's minus-10.6 net rating is also the second-worst in the league (via NBA.com).
Given the Kings' slow start to the season, it's understandable for them to take a cautious approach with Sabonis' recovery. The three-time All-Star hasn't been hampered by injuries often throughout his tenure in Sacramento, appearing in at least 70 games during each of the past three years.
Sabonis has averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game on 51.0/20.0/72.5 shooting splits this season.
Drew Eubanks, Maxime Raynaud and Precious Achiuwa should continue to see expanded roles in Sacramento's frontcourt until Sabonis is able to return.
