Jim Harbaugh Discusses Michigan HC Situation in Video

Los Angeles Chargers head coach and former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh discussed the Wolverines' recent firing of head coach Sherrone Moore.

"I still don't have my head wrapped around it, Dan," Harbaugh said during a Tuesday appearance on the Dan Patrick Show (8:00 mark). "It's a tragedy and I'm just praying for all concerned. I love my alma mater, love Michigan, but I love the Chargers too. And I'd be doing a disservice if I wasn't putting all my focus on this game."

Harbaugh also confirmed that he's not involved in Michigan's coaching search.

"No, I'm not," Harbaugh said (9:20 mark). "All focus is on the Dallas Cowboys."

Moore was a member of Harbaugh's staff with the Wolverines from 2018 until he left to become head coach of the Chargers in Jan. 2024. Harbaugh revealed that he has texted with Moore in the wake of his firing, providing some personal guidance (8:42 mark).

Michigan owned a 61-14 record during their shared tenure, highlighted by a perfect 15-0 mark in 2023 that resulted in a national title.

Bill Poggi is serving as the Wolverines' interim head coach while they search for a new option to patrol the sidelines.

Harbaugh doesn't appear to be involved in the hiring process despite his history in Ann Arbor, though.
