Dylan Raiola Reportedly to Transfer, What Are Top Landing Spots for Nebraska QB?

Doric SamDec 15, 2025

After weeks of speculation, quarterback Dylan Raiola's time at Nebraska reportedly will come to an end.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Monday that Raiola intends to enter the transfer portal and will have two years of eligibility remaining as a true sophomore.

It can be expected that multiple big-name schools will be in the market for a quarterback this offseason, so Raiola's top potential landing spots could include Miami, Alabama and Penn State.

Miami has become a hub for developing transfer quarterbacks, as evidenced by helping Cam Ward rise to becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Georgia transfer Carson Beck started the year hot for the Hurricanes and was in the Heisman Trophy conversation before struggling midway through the year. It can be expected that Miami head coach Mario Cristobal will make a run at Raiola to make him his next reclamation project.

Many expect Alabama to lose Ty Simpson to the 2026 NFL draft, as he's ranked as the No. 2 quarterback prospect in the class by B/R's NFL Scouting Department. Penn State will also be in the market for a new signal-caller following the graduation of longtime starter Drew Allar, so Raiola could be in play for both schools.

Chris Hummer of 247Sports reported that while the draft status of Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is still unclear, the Ducks are considered "an early school of interest" for Raiola.

As for where Raiola won't end up, Pete Nakos of On3.com reported, "Do not expect Texas Tech to be a factor" in his recruitment from the transfer portal. Raiola has been known to model his game after Texas Tech alum and Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, but it sounds like he won't follow his footsteps to the Red Raiders.

Raiola was in the midst of a promising sophomore season before he suffered a broken fibula and was forced to miss the rest of the year. In nine games, he threw for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 72.4 percent of his passes. As a freshman in 2024, he started all 13 games for the Cornhuskers and threw for 2,819 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Raiola's decision could be a game-changer for teams looking to compete for a national championship next season, so he will likely be the most sought-after player in the transfer portal.
