Chris Paul Attends Thunder vs. Spurs NBA Cup Semifinal on Video After Clippers Exit

Chris Paul will be in attendance for the clash between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs in the 2025 NBA Cup semifinals, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.

Paul opened the 2025-26 season with the Los Angeles Clippers, although the Clippers announced that he would no longer be with the team on Dec. 3.

The 40-year-old has history with both NBA Cup semifinalists, playing for the Spurs last season after suiting up for the Thunder during his 2019-20 campaign.

Paul signed a one-year contract worth $3.6 million with the Clippers in July, returning to the organization that he spent six seasons with from 2011-17.

Both sides struggled to open the year, with Paul averaging just 2.9 points and 3.3 assists in 14.3 minutes per game on 32.1/33.3/50.0 shooting splits. Los Angeles also owned a mere 5-16 record at the time he was sent home.

It was still surprising to see the team part ways with the 12-time All-Star so early into the season, especially after he announced his decision to retire at the end of the year.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Paul's leadership style "clashed" with the Clippers and he wasn't on speaking terms with head coach Tyronn Lue for "several weeks."

The veteran is still planning on suiting up for a different team to close out the season and has been linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves as well as the Houston Rockets.

For now, Paul will watch two of his former teams clash with a spot in the NBA Cup final on the line.
