Colorado head coach Deion Sanders praised Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia in a post on X ahead of the 2025 Heisman Trophy ceremony on Saturday.
Pavia is one of four finalists for the award along with Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love and Ohio State signal-caller Julian Sayin.

Pavia previously revealed that Sanders offered him a scholarship during his tenure as head coach of Jackson State, but the two sides never joined forces after he was asked to serve as a backup to Shedeur Sanders.
The 24-year-old has put together a strong 2025 campaign with the Commodores, completing 71.2 percent of his throws for 3,192 yards and 27 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions.
Pavia has also made plays with his legs, picking up 826 yards and nine scores on the ground.
As for Sanders, his Buffaloes ended the 2025 season with a record of 3-9.
