Lane Kiffin Reacts to Jaxson Dart's Comments on HC's Move from Ole Miss to LSU

New York Giants quarterback and former Ole Miss player Jaxson Dart told reporters on Wednesday that he was excited to see what Lane Kiffin accomplishes as the head coach at LSU.

Kiffin seemed to appreciate those remarks.

"I'm also really happy for Ole Miss, keeping Coach Pete Golding at the helm there," Dart also noted. "I was also just happy that they were able to keep their offensive staff, being able to coach the rest of the College Football Playoff... it would've been a sign of disrespect a little bit not letting those guys finish it out. I'm excited to see their run for a National Championship this year."

Kiffin is allowing tight ends coach Joe Cox, wide receivers coach George McDonald, assistant quarterbacks coach Dane Stevens and slot receivers coach Sawyer Jordan—who are all joining him at LSU—to remain at Ole Miss through the CFP.

LSU's courting of Kiffin—alongside the other schools seemingly interested—became a controversial topic toward the end of the regular season, especially with Ole Miss pushing for a Playoff berth. When Kiffin was hired and Ole Miss made the understandable decision to not allow him to remain as the head coach for the Playoff, it created the rather unprecedented scenario of a coaching leaving his team heading into the CFP.

That made Kiffin public enemy No. 1 in Oxford, and Dart's comments may help soothe over some of those lingering animosities from the Ole Miss faithful.

As for the aforementioned Dart, he's thrown for 1,556 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions across 10 games during his rookie season, rushing for 337 yards and seven scores.
