Latest Bowl Predictions, Odds, Playoff Bracket and Projections for Top 2025 Matchups

Joe TanseyDec 7, 2025

The Alabama Crimson Tide and Miami Hurricanes won out over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field.

Miami was handed the No. 10 seed and the final at-large spot in the field. Alabama remained at No. 9 despite its loss in the SEC Championship Game to the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia also remained in its spot at No. 3 due to the one-spot drop the Ohio State Buckeyes suffered from their Big Ten Championship Game loss to the Indiana Hoosiers.

Indiana earned the No. 1 overall seed and one of the four first-round byes. The Texas Red Raiders also landed a first-round bye alongside Indiana, Ohio State and Georgia.

The Oregon Ducks, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners will all host first-round games on campus on the weekend of December 19 and 20.

Oregon hosts the James Madison Dukes, who got in over the Duke Blue Devils as the fifth-highest-ranked conference champion.

Oklahoma will play Alabama for the second time this season, as will Ole Miss with the Tulane Green Wave. Miami is headed to College Station to play Texas A&M.

Opening Round Predictions

2 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 28 Ole Miss at Mississippi State

Friday, December 19

No. 9 Alabama (-1.5) at No. 8 Oklahoma (8 p.m. ET, ABC)

Saturday, December 20

No. 10 Miami at No. 7 Texas A&M (-4) (Noon ET, ABC)

No. 11 Tulane at No. 6 Ole Miss (-16.5) (3:30 p.m. ET, TNT)

No. 12 James Madison at No. 5 Oregon (-21.5) (7:30 p.m. ET, TNT)

History is not on the side of Tulane and James Madison.

Group of Five teams typically struggle with power-conference opposition.

All you have to do is look at this season's results for evidence. Tulane fell 45-10 to Ole Miss on September 20.

Tulane did beat the Northwestern Wildcats and Duke Blue Devils in nonconference play, but neither team is in the same echelon as the playoff participants.

James Madison's only loss was by two scores to the Louisville Cardinals. That was the Dukes' lone game against a power-conference team.

Oregon and Ole Miss should advance with ease, so that leaves two games that might be competitive.

Alabama's offensive skill position players need to get healthy in order for it to contend with Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide played without multiple running backs and their starting tight end in the SEC Championship Game.

Miami enters College Station on a four-game winning streak. It has a chance to upset an A&M team that had some trouble in its two most notable games.

The Aggies eked out a road win at Notre Dame and fell on the road to the Texas Longhorns in their final regular-season game.

Predictions:

Oregon over James Madison

Ole Miss over Tulane

Oklahoma over Alabama

Miami over Texas A&M

Quarterfinal Predictions

3 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 06 Big 12 Championship Game Texas Tech vs BYU

The top four teams in the CFB Playoff bracket have all had dominant stretches throughout the season.

Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia and Texas Tech all boast incredible defenses, which is why its easy to see all four teams moving on from the quarterfinal round.

Texas Tech has the toughest potential quarterfinal matchup against Oregon, but the Ducks did struggle with high-profile opponents in Big Ten play.

Oregon lost at home to No. 1 Indiana and needed overtime to beat the Penn State Nittany Lions, who at the time were the No. 3 team in the country.

Texas Tech's defense held its last four opponents to single-digit point totals. Two of those performance came against the BYU Cougars, who entered the weekend at No. 11.

There's a very high chance that the top four teams will meet in two highly anticipated semifinal games.

Indiana over Oklahoma

Ohio State over Miami

Georgia over Ole Miss

Texas Tech over Oregon

Semifinal and Final Prediction

4 of 4
COLLEGE FOOTBALL: DEC 06 Big Ten Championship Game Indiana vs Ohio State

If all top four seeds reach the semifinal round, it will be a fantastic showcase for college football, but there might not be a ton of points.

Ohio State, Indiana and Texas Tech have the top three scoring defenses in that order. Georgia ranks 11th in scoring defense.

Indiana has arguably the best quarterback among the top four in likely Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza.

Ohio State has the best offensive skill position players in wide receivers Jeremiah Smith and Carnell Tate.

Mendoza will likely be the difference-maker against Texas Tech, and the same can be said with the OSU wide outs against Georgia.

That would leave the Hoosiers and Buckeyes left for a Big Ten Championship Game rematch in the National Championship.

Indiana proved it could outplay Ohio State on Saturday, and with Mendoza at the helm, the Hoosiers have a real chance to take down the Buckeyes twice to become the national champion.

Predictions:

Indiana over Texas Tech

Ohio State over Georgia

Indiana over Ohio State in national championship
