The College Football Playoff bracket was officially unveiled on Sunday, but it wasn't without some controversy.

The CFP selection committee included Alabama and Miami in the 12-team field despite Notre Dame having a slightly stronger resume and Duke winning the ACC championship. Of course, fans on social media had a lot to say about the snubs:

Alabama was trounced by Georgia in Saturday's SEC championship game 28-7. Still, not only were the Crimson Tide included in the CFP bracket, but they didn't drop at all from their No. 9 ranking.

Notre Dame was officially listed as the first team out of the 12-team CFP bracket. While Miami holds a head-to-head win over the Fighting Irish, it took until the final rankings reveal for the committee to add the Hurricanes to the top 12.

Notre Dame went 10-2 this season, winning 10 straight games after dropping its first two games against Miami and Texas A&M. As an independent, the Fighting Irish knew they would have some more work to do to achieve an at-large bid to the CFP, and it appeared for much of the year that they did enough.

Duke earned a spot in the ACC championship game against Virginia thanks to the conference's fifth tiebreaker, as four other teams were tied for second place, including Miami. The Blue Devils upset the Cavaliers 27-20 in overtime, leading many to wonder if the ACC would be snubbed from the CFP completely due to Duke's 8-5 record.

Instead, the Hurricanes will be the ACC's lone representative in the CFP. Miami started the season with five straight wins and once looked to be among the top teams in the nation.

The CFP will officially get underway with a slate of four first-round games on Dec. 19-20.
