Will Mendoza, Indiana Win CFP Bracket? Fans Weigh In After Big Ten Title Win vs. OSU
The No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers and Heisman hopeful Fernando Mendoza beat No. 1 Ohio State 13-10 on Saturday to secure the Big Ten championship and an undefeated season.
A missed field goal that would have tied the game in the final minutes ended Ohio State's hopes, while Mendoza sealed it on the other end by throwing for 222 yards, one touchdown and one interception while completing 15-of-23 passes in a performance worthy of any Heisman reel.
Fans reacted to the Hoosiers' win and Mendoza's standout showing as Indiana positioned itself to make a run at the national championship as a potential No. 1 seed.
With the loss, there's a possibility Ohio State could slide to No. 3 or No. 4, with Georgia potentially climbing to No. 2 after its dominant 28-7 win over Alabama in the SEC Championship on Saturday.
Still, the Buckeyes' previously 12-0 record — with Saturday marking their first loss — could carry more weight in the eyes of the CFP committee than Georgia's 11-1 mark that includes an early season loss to Alabama.
Their official place in the 12-team bracket will be revealed during the College Football Playoff selection show on Dec. 7.
